Awareness through(out) Change.
We tell stories about ourselves, about who we are, what we do, what matters to us, what we like and identify with, what we don’t like, what we fear…
Perhaps the all point of life is to tell as story that ultimately feels worth telling and to look back and find coherence in our narrative.
The problem is, when something happens and
We stop being the authors of our life stories.

Did you ever feel this way? Like the story being told about you is not right, that plot is confusing or unfulfilling, that the same patterns or characters repeat over and over, filling you with complicated emotions.
If you ever felt this way, what did you do then?
Now take a moment to imagine how you would feel if you could have a story that feels worth telling? That you are proud of?
Both sudden and unexpected changes and anticipated transitions can leave us feeling a little bit lost.
We might be caught off guard by the effects of that transition and even feel like we are losing touch with our wiser selves, that is, the parts of us that have our highest values, goals and dreams in mind.
The good news is, moments of great confusion can lead to the greatest change. I have written an article about that. If you would like to read more: click here.
Here are some of the life transitions I have supported clients through:

Events that have abruptly changed you life, such as accidents, assaults, or significant loss.

Shifts in how you see yourself, your identity, your values and your place in the world.

Transitions such as breakups, marriage, or adjustments within a long-term relationship.

Adaptation to moving to a new city /country, managing homesickness, social isolation, and cultural adaptation.

Questions around purpose, career satisfaction, or personal fulfilment, addressing “empty nest” syndrome, or shifts in life focus.

Health challenges, new diagnoses, or chronic illness, emotional and practical adjustment to a new lifestyle.

Managing stress, uncertainty, or identity changes associated with job changes, promotions, career transitions, or the transition out of the workforce.

Loss of loved ones, grief and meaning-seeking.

Changes in identity, relationship dynamics, and emotional challenges tied to the transition into parenthood.
In one paragraph: What I like to do is to connect with you, understand where you are at, and then help you find your way back into your own inherent power, so you can write new chapters for your life in a way that feels right to you.
I seem to have come into this life with a seemingly unquenchable thirst to learn!
I have tried to make the best of it by engaging in extensive training on various tools and approaches like: schema therapy, imagery-guided and story telling techniques and hypnotherapy.
I have then combined those approachs to create my own technique.
It comes in handy that, as an academic researcher, I am always looking to put my theories and techniques to the test with empirical research. I have completed a PhD on how people navigate times of change and how they can use those times for positive growth. You can find some of my published research here.

Before becoming a psychologist (and during my university years) I did theatre for a long a while, ever since I was little. I also always loved to read and write, to connect with nature, specially through mountain hikes and boat trips. I think I was always searching for ways to learn more about the world, and others worlds, and the people in them.
I was born in the beautiful Madeira Island, Portugal, which will always be a home to me. With such mesmering mountains and deep ocean blues as you can see in the picture here.
I will always love the ocean and feel connected to it. And at the same time, I had a thirst to cross it, to learn and grow, and understang things beyond my own immediate and familiar surroundings.
So I went to study abroad, and then met my husband who is from South America, and later moved to the south of Germany, where I started to work with clients coming from all parts of the world and collaborating with colleagues from all sorts of cultures.
I am incredibly fortunate to do what I love and there is not a single client that doesn’t make a significant impact on my life’s narrative, the same as I hope to make in theirs.
Why should we have it all figured out?
Life is inherently about change and transformation, so if you feel lost and confused, perhaps you are doing something right!
